Steve Finnan is pushing to make his Portsmouth debut after featuring for the reserves following a hamstring injury. The experienced full-back joined Pompey on a free transfer in pre-season, but has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Premier League's bottom club. He has been sidelined with a hamstring complaint, but the 33-year-old stepped up his comeback with an outing for the reserves on Tuesday. Finnan played 85 minutes as Pompey beat their West Ham counterparts 3-0 and created a goal for striker Frederic Piquionne. The former Republic of Ireland international's imminent availability for first-team duty will be a major boost for Portsmouth boss Paul Hart. With Pompey having lost all seven league games so far this season, Hart must now decide whether to call on Finnan's experience for Saturday's trip to Wolves.
