Eriksson quashes Pompey talk

Sven-Goran Eriksson has once again dismissed reports he is set to leave his job as Mexico national coach for the vacancy at Portsmouth. The Swede has consistently been linked with a return to the Premier League following Tony Adams' sacking, but the former Manchester City and England manager wants to continue his work in Mexico, despite indifferent results. Eriksson has already come under pressure following a 2-0 defeat to neighbouring rivals USA last month, but insists Portsmouth is not in his plans. "I have a running contract with Mexico to take them to South Africa," said Eriksson during a press conference. "Do I like Portsmouth? I like coaching Mexico and I want to take them to the World Cup. "I want to be on the bench when Mexico play in the World Cup. (The reports regarding Portsmouth) are just speculation." Eriksson is currently preparing his side for Mexico's friendly international with Bolivia in Colorado next Wednesday and is due to name his squad at the end of the week.
