Distin - I fear for Pompey
New Everton signing Sylvain Distin says he fears for the future of old club Portsmouth.
The 31-year-old, who became the latest player to be sold by Pompey when he moved to Goodison Park for a fee of £5.3million, admits he is concerned with the plight of his former side.
Distin won the FA Cup with the South Coast outfit in 2008, securing qualification for Europe in the process, yet despite the recent takeover by Sulaiman al-Fahim the Frenchman thinks they face a difficult season ahead.
"I do fear for the club," he told the Daily Mirror. "Everybody is worried - staff, fans, players. That's normal and it would be strange if they weren't. It was a difficult situation to start a season like that.
"I know sometimes people just want the players to think about football and not to get upset of affected by what happens at the club, but that's impossible. We are like everybody else, we have feelings.

"They also don't have enough players and that is one of the reasons that I left. I felt I couldn't stay, especially at my age.
"I want to enjoy my football. I don't have 10 years left so I want to enjoy it, have a good time and compete."
Distin may make his debut for the Toffees when they take on Wigan on Sunday, and new manager David Moyes is hoping he can make an instant impact at the club.
"I have always admired him from his days at Manchester City and Newcastle, and he did a great job at Portsmouth," he said.
"If he does as well as the experienced players in the past, like David Weir and Alan Stubbs, then he will do well for us.
"He will slide in, and I am looking forward to having him in the team."
