Diop Signs For AEK Athens

The Wardrobe leaves for Greece. Papa Bouba Diop has signed for AEK Athens on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £300,000.The 32-year-old Senegal midfielder was one of Pompey's higher earners in the team and Andrew Andronikou was keen to remove him from the wage bill.I can't say he'll be missed too much in all honesty. For someone built like he was, he sure fell over a lot. He gave away so many needless free kicks and penalties with his clumsy challenges and his passing was often wayward. And of course there's the fact he never scored a single goal for Pompey too, even managing to miss from all of two yards against Aston Villa. The AEK fans gave him a good reception when he arrived at the airport, I think they may change their tune when they realise how bad he can be.
