Debut goal for Pompey striker
ew striker Luke Varney wasted little time in getting on the goal trail following his move to Portsmouth.[LNB] The 28-year-old striker, signed on a free transfer from Derby last week, was on target in his first Pompey appearance, a 4-0 friendly win over Havant & Waterlooville.[LNB]He said: "I've scored on my debut for the last three clubs that I've been at. It helps you to settle quickly and lets the lads see what you're about.[LNB]"But it was more important to get 90 minutes in the legs really. We had a good work-out and got a decent result at the end of it."[LNB]Joel Ward, Hayden Mullins and Dave Kitson were also on target for Pompey.[LNB]
