Davis focused on drop fears

Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis insists that he and his colleagues are fully focused on securing Premier League survival, rather than their own futures.

The 29-year-old is one of a number of Pompey stars whose contracts run out in the summer, but Davis is happy to wait for any decision over his long-term future.

He told The News: "There are a few players - including myself - who are out of contract at the end of the season, but we will worry about that at the end of the season.

"At the moment it is all about making sure everything is right on the pitch. There will be time to sort out our futures in the summer.

"Once you get on the pitch you forget about things like that, you just want to do your best and fight for the cause.

"You have to approach the game in the same way you would if you had a three or four-year contract.

"You do not want to go on to the pitch and lose because it makes you look bad.

"Even if players were looking to move at the end of the season - which I do not think many here are - then you are not going to impress anyone by shirking challenges or playing half-heartedly."
