Davis only interested in Pompey survival bid

Sean Davis how vowed to put the uncertainty surrounding his future to one side and focus fully on helping Portsmouth avoid relegation. The 29-year-old midfielder is one of several first-team regulars whose contract is up in the summer, with the likes of captain Sol Campbell, Kanu and versatile defender Hermann Hreidarsson also coming to the end of their current deals at Fratton Park. Davis would be a free agent when his contract expires, and is reportedly a target for Wigan. However, for the moment, with Pompey - under caretaker boss Paul Hart - still probably needing another win to be safe following the 3-0 home defeat by Arsenal, Davis maintains getting the results needed now is all that is on the players' minds. "There are a few players - including myself - who are out of contract at the end of the season, but we will worry about that at the end of the season," insisted Davis, signed from Spurs in January 2006. "At the moment it is all about making sure everything is right on the pitch. There will be time to sort out our futures in the summer. "Once you get on the pitch you forget about things like that, you just want to do your best and fight for the cause - you have to approach the game in the same way you would if you had a three or four-year contract. You do not want to go onto the pitch and lose because it makes you look bad. "Even if players were looking to move at the end of the season - which I do not think many here are - then you are not going to impress anyone by shirking challenges or playing half-heartedly."
