David James wants Tottenham move to boost World Cup hopes

With the turmoil over Portsmouth's ownership exacerbated by their poor start to the season, James is concerned that he could lose his national team place. [LNB]Harry Redknapp, the Tottenham manager, wanted to sign James in the summer but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy refused to pay a big fee for a 39 year-old. However, a source close to the player insists that his desire to leave has hardened and that a deal is in the pipeline.
