Russian consortium Convers Sport Initiative have confirmed they have held talks with Portsmouth over a potential buy-out of the south-coast club.

CSI failed in a bid to buy Bournemouth last summer but have held talks with several clubs including Pompey, who are under the ownership of Balram Chainrai after coming out of administration in October.

CSI co-owner Chris Akers, a former chief executive of Leeds, said in a statement: "Convers Sports Initiatives has always been interested in English football and it is widely known that we have been actively seeking to acquire a suitable club. We have held talks with representatives from several clubs, including Portsmouth FC, however we cannot comment any further on the status of any of these negotiations."
