Crouch points to experience

Striker Peter Crouch believes Portsmouth's experience will ultimately keep the club in the Premier League this season.

The England striker was on the mark in Saturday's 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Middlesbrough.

But despite the blow of conceding a stoppage-time equaliser to remain firmly entrenched in the relegation dogfight, Crouch believes his team-mates have enough quality and experience to preserve their top-flight status.

He said: "It is incredibly tight at the bottom. Even a point has moved us out of the bottom three and three would have put us right out of there.

"It will be tight, but we have home games against out rivals so it is in our hands.

"This relegation battle will be one the most intriguing for years and one of the most exciting things about the Premier League is that, while usually there are only four or five who could go down, this time you could argue it is right up there to 10th and 11th.

"It will be great for the fans but no good for us. We have a great deal of experience in our squad. We have players who have stayed up on the final day and hopefully that will tell.

"That can get us out of the relegation picture."
