Crouch fires Pompey warning

Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch has warned his side that they need to banish the threat of relegation from the Premier League as quickly as possible.

Pompey are currently just two points above the drop zone, with the visit of Chelsea next on the agenda for the South Coast club.

Crouch said: "I have just got to get the goals to keep us in this league. We have enough to turn it around.

"We have not relaxed - far from it - but there are only so many times you can say we have plenty of games to turn things around.

"I have been in this situation when you think you have time, then all of a sudden you have three games left and you have to win them.

"We do not want to get in that situation. We want to stop it before it gets to that.

"We lost Jermain Defoe and Lassana Diarra and if you are losing players of that quality it is going to have an effect, but I would say that we definitely have the quality here."

Crouch has netted 13 times for Pompey this season, but is without a goal in his lasts even appearances.
