Crouch hopes to face Kazakhstan

Peter Crouch is hoping his goal in the last World Cup qualifying victory against Ukraine will persuade Fabio Capello to give him a starting role against Kazakhstan on Saturday. The Portsmouth striker scored the first goal in April's 2-1 win as England maintained their 100% start to the qualifying campaign. Emile Heskey, who missed out through injury on that occasion, is fit again but Crouch is hoping to get the nod from coach Capello. "Hopefully I've given the manager food for thought and hopefully he'll bear me in mind when the team is selected," said Crouch at Monday's press conference. "Everyone wants to start games but it's not always the case. The way we play is with one main striker up front and that's been Emile Heskey. "I got my chance because of the injuries but I felt like I did well enough."
