Cotterill set for loan raid

Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill will be given the green light to bolster his squad over the next seven days. The window for emergency loan deals closes next week and chief executive David Lampitt says Cotterill will be backed in the transfer market ahead of the busy festive schedule. Pompey have already secured the services of Wolves defender Greg Halford for a second month and Lampitt told The News: "Now we'll see what happens with regard to further recruits. "Steve and I are talking about it daily and he is firmly of the view that it's got to be the right player and gives him something which he hasn't already got. "But certain resources are there to be able to add to the squad within our budget. The bigger problem has been identifying and getting hold of the right player, rather than the resources not being available."
