Cotterill hoping Halford will remain

Portsmouth manager Steve Cotterill wants to keep on-loan Wolves defender Greg Halford for the rest of the season. Cotterill has been in touch with Wolves boss Mick McCarthy over extending the versatile Halford's deal, which expires after the January 3 fixture against Hull. "I have dropped Mick McCarthy a message just to see where he is with Greg," Cotterill told The News. "As it stands, Hull is his last game, but hopefully we can extend it a bit more. Ideally, I'd like it to be for the rest of the season if possible. "That is down to Mick and where his thoughts and theories are for Greg. We are in his hands a little bit. "I think he's done very well. I like the way he can bring in flexibility."
