Mexican Football Federation president Justino Compean insists Sven-Goran Eriksson's job is not under threat.[LNB] The former England coach has endured a difficult time of late, with Mexico making a disappointing start to the final stage of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Zone.[LNB]A recent 2-0 defeat against the United States stretched the Central American nation's winless run on their travels to four games.[LNB]That result saw Eriksson come in for heavy criticism from the Mexican media and former players, but the Swede can still count on the full support of Compean.[LNB]"Sven cannot have a guillotine over his head," he said, with Eriksson having been linked with the Premier League vacancy at Portsmouth.[LNB]"He has to work with our confidence and we are giving it to him.[LNB]"We will not threaten him, but give him all the support and whatever he needs."[LNB]FaithCompean is convinced that performances will improve in upcoming matches against Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Trinidad & Tobago and is backing Eriksson to guide Mexico to the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.[LNB]"The road to the World Cup has 30 points to play for," he added.[LNB]"We lost the first three, but there are 27 left. I have no doubt we'll be playing at the World Cup.[LNB]"He knows how to count. He knows he must win 15 points at home and also collect some away to reach the 20-point mark and be confident.[LNB]"We want to qualify for the World Cup through this stage and not the play-off.[LNB]"We have appointed Sven to go to South Africa. We've chatted a lot with him. We talk constantly. We trust him. He was appointed to take us to the World Cup."[LNB]
