City accept James bid
11 Aug 2006 - 07:59:52
Manchester City have accepted an offer from Portsmouth for unsettled goalkeeper David James.
Pompey's initial bid for the veteran England international was rejected, but an increased offer of around £1million was enough to persuade City to sell.
James will put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Portsmouth on Friday, providing he passes a medical.
The 36-year-old has been City's first choice shot-stopper since arriving from West Ham United in a £2million deal in 2004, but recently informed manager Stuart Pearce that he wanted to join a club in the south in order to be closer to his fiancee.
