Boateng out to impress
Kevin-Prince Boateng is eager to show what he can do in the Premier League with new side Portsmouth.
The midfielder signed for Pompey from Tottenham for £4million last week after a ultimately disappointing time at White Hart Lane.
The 22-year-old saw his career go stale at Spurs having been restricted to just 24 appearances, nine of them starts, in all competitions in his two seasons at the club, during which time he was shipped out on loan to Borussia Dortmund.
The former Germany Under-21 international cannot wait to play regular first-team football and believes Pompey have enough quality to get off the bottom of the table.
"I think for me it's a great move. I'm very happy," he told The News.
"The second Tottenham game I started was at Fratton Park. I know the crowd is crazy and they just need us to win.
"I remember I nearly scored but David James saved it. I remember the crowd were just crazy.
"When you see the quality in training, we have a lot of players with experience, a lot of young players.
"They want to show they are hungry so I know we just need to stick together and show we are a real team.
"I couldn't really show it at Spurs - now is my time to show people. It was a tough time for me at Spurs.
"I always train hard and give my best but it didn't work out. You just have to get a new chance to show what you can do.
"I had the whole pre-season with Spurs. I never really had the chance to show what I can do, and I hope I can get the chance at Portsmouth now and show people."
Bhasera talksMeanwhile, Pompey are still negotiating with Kaizer Chiefs over the possible transfer of defender Onismor Bhasera.
The 23-year-old is training with Paul Hart's side after he was granted a work permit upon appeal and was expected to sign on a free transfer last week.
However, Kaizer Chiefs insist the player still had a year to run on his contract and are now demanding a £500,000 fee for the left-back.
"I do not want to say much at the moment and I cannot say how much is involved because we are still locked in negotiations," Kaizer Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung said.
"I am sure we will soon come to an agreement."
