Basel quiet on Sol talk

Swiss side Basel have refused to comment on reports that they have offered a deal to Sol Campbell. The former England international is out of contract at Fratton Park this summer. As yet the 34-year-old is yet to decide on his future, but he has long been linked with a move abroad to end his career. Switches to America's MLS and Spain's La Liga have previously been mooted - but now a switch to FC Basel is being suggested. Reports have claimed that Basel are ready to offer Campbell a three-year deal to move to Switzerland. However, when quizzed about the Campbell rumours Basel vice-chairman Bernhard Heusler refused to comment. "We are not going to make any statement on the truth of this," Heusler told Basellandschaftliche Zeitung.
