Avram Grant Resigns

Pompey manager leaves Fratton Park. Avram Grant has resigned as Portsmouth manager after Andrew Andronikou failed to assure him that the club has a stable future with a new buyer ready to come in.The Israeli has deliberated over the situation for the past week but has eventually made a decision he calls "one of the most difficult decisions in my football career."In a statement, Grant thanks the fans for their support and he says that some of the letters he has received has brought "tears to my eyes." He also says that although Grant may be gone from the club physically, the club could not be taken away from his heart. It's now expected that Grant will be named the next manager of West Ham United, which seems to me like an "out of the fire and into the frying pan" move, but a good one for him nonetheless given the state we're in.As I've said before, I do not begrudge Avram his move and I personally want to thank him for giving this club a sense of pride during its darkest hours. Grant has become a cult hero at Fratton Park and I'm sure he would be welcomed back with open arms should the opportunity arise in the future. The alarm bells should be ringing for us now as we have no owner (and look no closer to getting one), no money and now no manager. Put your life savings on Paul Groves getting the job, but watch the exodus begin. Thanks for everything, Uncle Avram.
