    Adams plays down pressure

    01 Feb 2009 - 10:15:45

Portsmouth boss Tony Adams claims he is unconcerned by suggestions that his brief reign at Fratton Park is in danger of ending due to the club's poor form.

Speaking after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Fulham which saw Pompey fail to improve on their current 15th place in the table, Adams shrugged off questions about his future.

Adams has won just four of his 21 games at the helm of the South Coast club since replacing Harry Redknapp back in October.

Asked if he had any concerns, he said: "No, I don't think so. It is all good at the moment.

"I do my job to the best of my ability. It has been a tough period. The last two months have been difficult both on and off the pitch.

"I'll be delighted when the transfer window closes. Heads have been turned up and down the country and once it is closed we can get on with business.

"We made mistakes. We gambled on offsides and it is disappointing because we worked hard in training on that.

"We were undone within 15 minutes of the game. If you continue to make mistakes you will lose points."

Meanwhile, Adams revealed that he hopes to bring players into the club before the transfer window closes on Monday.

He added: "We need a couple of players as I am limited to what I can do. Jermaine Pennant is suspended for the next game and he's also got a knock at the moment, so I am running out of players.

"The situation has changed at the football club. I've not been given £100million to spend in this window that's for sure. But you get on with the squad you've got."
