Adams happy with Davis stay
03 Feb 2009 - 12:18:51
Portsmouth manager Tony Adams is delighted to have kept midfielder Sean Davis at the club for at least the rest of the season.
Bolton Wanderers were keen to take the 29-year-old before the transfer deadline passed, but Adams was adamant that he did not want lose Davis ahead of a possible relegation battle.
He told The News: "I think Sean's a great player and I do not want to lose one of my best players.
"He was excellent at Fulham, for me our best player, and we need people like him in our side. He is someone prepared to fight and give everything for this club.
"We have also offered him some more money to stay and I'm delighted he's now with us until the end of the season at the very least.
"After that it's up to him whether he commits himself to the club, that's his call.
"But he's definitely here for the rest of the season and fighting with all the other guys to stay in the league."
