Adams 'sacked by Pompey'

Sky Sports News understands Tony Adams has been sacked by Portsmouth. The club are expected to confirm his dismissal on Monday.[LNB] Adams endured a difficult start to Premier League management after stepping up to the top job at Fratton Park in October following Harry Redknapp's departure to Tottenham Hotspur.[LNB]The former Arsenal captain presided over a run of nine league games without a win which has left Pompey just a point outside the relegation zone.[LNB]He also oversaw the holders' 2-0 home humbling by Swansea City in the FA Cup fourth round last month and there has been intense speculation about his future in recent weeks.[LNB]Only last Monday, executive chairman Peter Storrie issued a statement to confirm Adams retained the board's support and called on the club to 'pull together'.[LNB]And on Friday, Pompey again dismissed speculation about Adams' future after former Charlton and West Ham boss Alan Curbishley was linked with the role.[LNB]However, it is now understood that Adams will be formally dismissed on Monday following the 3-2 defeat at home by title challengers Liverpool at the weekend.[LNB]Though Pompey are out of the FA Cup, the club are in action on Saturday 14th February as Manchester City visit Fratton Park in a rearranged game.[LNB]
