Whitaker eyes Valiants stay

Port Vale midfielder Danny Whitaker has hinted that he wants to remain with the club even if they are relegated to League Two.
The 27-year-old joined Vale in the summer of 2006 from Macclesfield Town and has been one of few impressive performers for the Valiants this term.
Whitaker's current contract runs out in the summer, but he is hopeful of landing a new deal to stay put.
He told The Sentinel: "I'm happy. I have said that to (assistant manager) Dean Glover and I think the manager knows that. Hopefully we can work something out.
"If we can keep most of the players and have a really good go next season, then we will definitely be up there.
"I think the fans are starting to notice I'm not a ball-winner as such.
"I like to get on the ball, be more creative and get goals from midfield. That's what I'm all about."
