Port Vale manager Martin Foyle was a happy man after seeing his side move away from relegation trouble with a 1-0 home win over Northampton Town.
A Danny Whitaker strike straight after half-time proved to be the winner and Foyle was pleased with the three points.
He said: "I don't think our form had been that bad but five out of our last seven games have been away from home and we haven't had the rub of the green.
"We created a lot of chances and I could be greedy and say we should have won by more goals, but the main objective was to get three points.
"I am delighted as we have got a few players who are coming back from injuries. They were puffing towards the end, but they all stood up to be counted."
