Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt has admitted that he and the rest of the club's board have not yet decided who their favoured candidate is to be the next manager at Vale Park.
Dean Glover is currently in caretaker charge following the departure of Martin Foyle and boosted his hopes of landing the post as the Valiants beat Cheltenham Town 3-0 on Tuesday.
A club statement confirmed after that result: "The club is determined not to rush the decision-making process in the crucial appointment of a new manager.
"A good number of serious applications have been received and more are coming in by the day.
"Dean Glover is wearing the shirt and has the opportunity to impress the club and its supporters with his own credentials for the job.
"We ask the fans to give their whole-hearted support to Dean and the players to help them win games and climb the league."
