Port Vale boss Lee Sinnott has drafted in Middlesbrough striker Steve Thompson for next season and has promised there are plenty more signings to come.
The 19-year-old impressed during a recent trial at Vale Park after failing to break in to the first team at the Premier League side.
Sinnott said of his latest capture: "We observed him in the two games he played for us and we liked what we saw. He's come from a good club and has had a good grounding there.
"He's 19 years old. We do have things in the pipeline for bringing in experienced players as well, but you go with your gut feeling.
"It's an opportunity for him and he strikes me as a young man who's ready, willing and able to grab that opportunity, and that's the type of player we want pulling the Port Vale shirt on."
