Port Vale have completed the signing of Nigerian international George Abbey on non-contract terms following the defender's release from Macclesfield Town in the summer.
The 26-year-old has been without a club since leaving Moss Rose and Vale boss Martin Foyle has handed him the chance to impress at Vale Park.
Abbey can play at left-back or right-back and his versatility will be an added bonus for Foyle.
The player admits he is delighted to be at the club and is hoping to earn something more permanent.
"Since I left Macclesfield in the summer it has been very frustrating for me, but Martin Foyle has given me a chance to show what I can do and I am looking forward to the challenge," Abbey told Vale's official club website.
Abbey goes straight into the squad to face Oldham Athletic on Saturday.
