Vale hopeful over Haldane

Port Vale are hopeful of landing loanee Lewis Haldane on a permanent basis.

The Bristol Rovers forward's loan deal expired following Tuesday's 2-1 win over Lincoln City, but Haldane could be back at Vale Park soon after manager Micky Adams revealed that talks were at an advanced stage.

"Talks are ongoing and we're close to agreeing terms with Lewis," he confirmed.

"I'm not sure he'll go back to Bristol Rovers. He'll train with us and we'll try and keep him fit for January.

"Hopefully we'll tie that up this week."

Haldane joined the Valiants in September and scored one goal in 20 appearances.
