Fit-again striker Steve Thompson is hoping to make his Port Vale debut in Saturday's FA Cup first-round trip to Huddersfield Town.
The summer signing from Middlesbrough has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Valiants after tearing a hamstring during a pre-season friendly.
The 19-year-old has been back in training for the last four weeks and could get the nod for the clash with the League One side.
"I can't wait to be honest because it's so long now since I last played. I've loved getting back into training," he told The Sentinel.
"If I get a call-up to the squad for tomorrow, that will be a bonus for me and I'll jump at the chance of getting on."
Meanwhile, on-loan defender Damien McCrory will return to parent club Plymouth Argyle after the trip to the Galpharm Stadium.
