Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott admitted that his side had been fortunate to beat fellow strugglers Gillingham 2-1, as they recorded a second victory in four games.
Sinnott is still preparing for life down in League Two next season and was far from satisfied with the overall performance on Monday.
He told The Sentinel: "I think the best way I can sum the game up is to say a win is a win. I think there were many flaws in the performances from both sides, but we edged it 2-1.
"Gillingham certainly had the opportunity to put more goals on the scoresheet, as maybe we did.
"But we have played in many games where we have deserved to draw or win and have got nothing. I don't think we deserved to win, but that's football.
"This is a game we could easily have lost or drawn and yet we won. To be successful next year I don't think we can have these kinds of performances."
