Port Vale boss Lee Sinnott is considering signing Leicester City striker Louis Dodds and midfielder Simon Heslop from Barnsley.
Dodds has already held talks with the League Two club about a possible move, while Heslop is due to meet Sinnott to discuss dropping down from the Championship to join the Valiants.
"We've already spoken to Louis Dodds, who was at Vale Park earlier in the week, and we're waiting to see how that develops," Sinnott told the club's official website.
"Simon Heslop will hopefully be coming to the ground on Thursday for talks.
"Even if both players agree to join Port Vale, we'll still have to talk to both Leicester City and Barnsley before we can take things further, but you're always hopeful you can do business."
