Sinnott makes Laird move

Port Vale have snapped up Manchester City midfielder Marc Laird on an initial one-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old is the first new recruit by Vale boss Lee Sinnott, who joined the League One club earlier this week from Farsley Celtic.

Laird told Vale's official club website: "I was first aware of Vale's interest a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately I picked up an ankle injury so I couldn't come.

"But I heard the other night I was still wanted and I see it as a good opportunity.

"It's a big opportunity for me to do well and hopefully impress the manager back at Manchester City at the same time.

"I certainly don't see it as a step down, it's a good opportunity for me."
