Port Vale beat Thursday's loan deadline to sign teenage Wolves midfielder Mark Salmon.
The 19-year-old Dubliner has joined the Valiants on a one-month loan deal and is looking to use the experience to help break into the first team at Molineux.
He told the club's official website: "I only found out today when I had a call from the gaffer saying I was wanted at Port Vale and it came as a bit of a shock really.
"I was hoping to go out on loan after Christmas anyway to get some first-team experience under my belt, but this has come out of the blue.
"My long-term aim is to break into the first team at Wolves and I hope the experience I gain at Port Vale will help me do that."
Meanwhile, Vale have allowed Charlie O'Loughlin to join Nantwich Town on a month's loan.
