Pead opts out of Vale move

Brentford wing-back Craig Pead has turned his back on a move to Port Vale, having earlier agreed to join the Valiants. The 26-year-old, who can play at right-back or in midfield, opted to leave the Bees at the end of the season, having won a place in the PFA's League Two Team of the Year. However, he has now decided to wait on further offers coming in and will not be heading to Vale Park. A statement on Vale's official website read: "After further dialogue between the club and Craig Pead, the proposed transfer to Port Vale will now not go ahead. "While expressing his disappointment, manager Lee Sinnott wishes the player all the best for the future and will now continue his search to fill the gap left by the player's change of mind."
