No worries for Gannon

Port Vale manager Jim Gannon is not expected to have any new injury concerns as he kicks off his league reign with a derby clash at local rivals Crewe.Gannon, appointed as Micky Adams' successor, took charge for the first time last Saturday as the Valiants went down 4-2 at Burnley in their FA Cup third-round tie. With the postponement of Tuesday's scheduled clash against Hereford, he has been able to use this week to great effect to work with his squad and fully start to implement his ideas. But his plans continue to be without leading scorer Marc Richards (thigh) and influential midfielder Doug Loft (calf) until next month.Louis Dodds was employed as a second striker to Justin Richards at Turf Moor in the absence of namesake Marc, with winger Lewis Haldane recalled to Vale`s starting line-up, and Gannon could name an unchanged XI at Gresty Road.Other options for possible change include midfielders Sean Rigg, Tommy Fraser and youngster Sam Morsy, who earned a surprise half-time introduction from the bench against the Clarets.
