Leon slates Vale critics
02 May 2007 - 12:39:32
Port Vale striker Leon Constantine has hit out at sections of the League One's fans for booing him this season, despite him netting 26 goals for the Valiants.
The 29-year-old forward has decided to move on this summer after 18 months at Vale Park and is less than impressed with some of the treatment meted out to him from the stands.
He told The Sentinel: "Obviously someone out there thinks I am doing a lot more than other people here think, so I will just go where I am wanted.
"I have never been at a club where I have scored goals and heard the crowd boo, so I am leaving them in the past.
"Maybe it is a bit of jealousy. When you are scoring goals, people think you will go on to better things, so rather than wish you well they just want to abuse.
"I have always given 100 per cent. Maybe it is just the way I look on the pitch and the way I run. People think I am lazy."
