Leon deal in the balance
16 Jan 2007 - 12:43:44
Port Vale striker Leon Constantine continues to hold talks about a possible transfer to Barnsley, but Martin Foyle appears to have missed out on the signing of Crewe Alexandra forward Luke Rodgers.
Vale have agreed a deal worth £125,000 plus Tykes striker Marc Richards for Constantine, but the player is still negotiating personal terms with the Championship strugglers.
Vale chairman Bill Bratt told the Sentinel: "Leon hasn't managed to agree terms with Barnsley yet, but the deal hasn't collapsed.
"All we can say is that we genuinely don't know what's going to happen. The players all have to agree terms with the clubs, and these things take time.
"I still think the deal with Leon will go through, and then everyone can get back to running the club."
Rodgers is still considering his options after being linked with Accrington Stanley, Leyton Orient and Swindon Town as well as Vale this month.
