Investment is key - Vale Chairman

Vale suffered relegation to the Football League's lowest tier last May and, amid promising pre-season hopes of being in the promotion shake-up, they have struggled in the bottom half of the table for most of this season, currently finding themselves 18th. Matters have been marginally better off the pitch. But the possibility of a £500,000 investment from shirt sponsors Harlequin Property could provide a much-needed financial boost, which would in turn improve prospects where it really matters. Bratt said in The Sentinel: "The situation on the football side has been horrendous in the last two seasons and that has to alter. "We need investment in and that is what we are trying to do. If that comes in, it will alter the situation in every aspect. We have to keep fighting for that investment. Everyone asks why we don't put the club up for sale, but all football clubs are effectively up for sale." Healthy season-ticket sales will also provide a large proportion of funds and the club have kept faith with their low prices for next season. A new adult season ticket will cost £229 if purchased before June, although if 5,000 fans renew then it will be reduced to this season's price of just £183.
