Glover seals loan double

Port Vale have boosted their squad with the loan signings of Manchester United defender Adam Eckersley and Hull City midfielder Will Atkinson.

Twenty-two-year-old left-back Eckersley has made one first-team appearance for the Red Devils, while teenager Atkinson has yet to feature for the Tigers.

Vale's caretaker manager Dean Glover told the club's official website: "Will is a young lad. He needs an opportunity to play league football and we have had good recommendations from good people within the game.

"I have watched him in reserve games and he is an honest boy, he works up and down and is technically good.

"Adam is quality on the ball and he is something we have been crying out for. The pleasing thing for me is, Adam likes to defend.

"He is not a massive lad, but he has got a good footballing brain and he uses that to his advantage."
