Port Vale manager Dean Glover is hoping the credit crunch can work to his club's advantage.
Glover is hoping to benefit from a bigger pool of out-of-contract players this summer as he bids to improve Vale's fortunes.
"This year I imagine there will be more footballers up for grabs than at any other time because of the credit crunch," he said.
"There might be a lot more experienced players there that you thought you might not get, but you hope you can.
"At this level, there isn't that mountain of money to throw into football, so we have to make the most of what we've got and try and create a successful team."
