Gannon rues dropped points

Port Vale manager Jim Gannon was disappointed not take advantage of a numerical advantage as Northampton held his side to a 1-1 draw at Vale Park.Vale striker Justin Richards converted a penalty in the 55th minute only for Leon McKenzie to head an equaliser three minutes later when he rose to head home Marcus Hall's cross. Cobblers midfielder Abdul Osman was shown a straight red card for a 68th minute foul on Doug Loft but Vale were unable to secure all three points.Gannon said: "Everybody would have to accept we should have won the game against 10 men and I'm disappointed we didn't."We lacked a bit of composure and quality and it's two points dropped. The plus is we've now gone three games unbeaten, but we've only taken five points which isn't great."The other plus was Tom Pope did very well in his first full game. I was very pleased with him and he has the sort of qualities which can serve us well."We also had players who couldn't pass the ball and kept knocking it out of play. That would suggest we've got problems if players can't do the basics at this stage of their careers."
