Foyle set future deadline

Port Vale boss Martin Foyle admitted he gave himself four games to save his job after back-to-back victories brought the Valiants' recent dismal run to an end.

Vale thrashed Bournemouth 4-0 at the weekend and Gillingham 2-0 four days previously to ease the pressure on Foyle, whose future had been brought into question after a 4-0 FA Cup humiliation at the hands of Hereford United.

"We gave ourselves four games, regardless of the backing from the board, because if the football is not good enough we know the consequences," he told the club's annual general meeting.

Meanwhile, Foyle is hopeful of keeping 16-goal leading scorer Leon Constantine at the club despite reported interest in the new year transfer window.
