Anyon targets new Vale deal
02 Feb 2009 - 11:09:53
Port Vale goalkeeper Joe Anyon hopes he can agree a new deal after making his 100th start for the club in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Morecambe.
The 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer and, despite being linked with Motherwell and Dundee United recently, is keen to pledge his future to Vale.
He told The Sentinel: "It's nice for any player to be offered a new contract because it offers security and shows you're involved in the manager's plans.
"Nothing's been said yet, but I know there's not much money around at the moment.
"But I'm playing, so all I can do is turn in performances and hope, come the end of the season, that Vale offer me another contract. I'd definitely like to stay.
"I'm happy and honoured to have played 100 league games and not many people can say they've done that.
"I've kept my place in the team, I've worked hard and it's been an honour to be able to wear the Vale shirt."
