Adams will remain grounded
12 Aug 2009 - 15:44:09
Port Vale manager Micky Adams has told his players to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground in the wake of their shock Carling Cup victory at Sheffield United.
The League Two outfit triumphed 2-1 at Bramall Lane on Tuesday, largely thanks to a brace of goals from Marc Richards.
But Adams immediately switched his attentions away from the cup competition as eyes three points in Saturday's clash with Bradford City.
"We've set standards tonight and what would disappoint me is if we let those standards slip against Bradford City," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke.
"We want to keep the momentum going because it means a lot in football."
However, Adams is hoping for another big draw in the next round of the Carling Cup, as the first batch of Premier League clubs enter the draw.
"Obviously we'd like to get a bigger club away from home if we can, but I'll take anyone," he added.
"It's a real bonus for us, you don't think about things like that before the game.
"You tell the players that it could be their night if they believe it and they certainly did believe it."
