Adams takes Valiants reins
05 Jun 2009 - 10:01:41
Former Leicester City, Brighton and Coventry City manager Micky Adams has been confirmed as the new boss of Port Vale.
Adams has been out of management since leaving Brighton & Hove Albion in February and is determined to revitalise a club which finished in the lower reaches of the League Two table this season.
"I want to become part of the reason why players want to come to this club because they see we want to build something," he told The Sentinel.
"I have not been given the opportunity to build in the past because people at clubs have demanded instant success.
"This club needs stability and somebody to put building blocks down - I want to be that man.
"One day, you never know where Vale could be and, looking at the facilities, it is a Championship club.
But it's all right having the facilities, we have to put the product on the pitch."
Meanwhile, Adams has admitted he has a point to prove to some of the clubs who have sacked him in the past.
He added: "Maybe a few people have written me off to some degree, but it is up to me to prove people wrong.
"That desire inside me is burning more than ever.
"I'm the third Vale manager in around 20 months. Stability has to be achieved by somebody and I'm determined to be that man."
