Adams pleased with Vale response
Port Vale manager Micky Adams was happy to see his side put their last two results behind them as they knocked Rochdale out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.Vale were hammered by Fulham last week before losing to Torquay on Saturday, and Adams was pleased with this tonic. He said: "We needed a win for a morale booster after the week we've had and I was pleased. We made a some changes because I thought there were a few tired legs against Torquay on Saturday and the lads who came in did well."It can't have been easy for Chris Martin to be second-choice goalkeeper, particularly at the start of the season, but he's come in and made a couple of great saves."I also threw Ritchie Sutton straight into the side and his performance showed the centre-halves won't be able to rest on their laurels."The players who came in showed a hunger and that is important because those in the team need to know they have to produce on a consistent basis. Players can't afford to have days off if you are going to win football matches."
