Adams looking for Port Vale repeat

Adams watched his Vale side demolish automatic promotion hopefuls Chesterfield 5-0 last weekend to secure their first win at Saltergate in 21 years. And should centre-back Gareth Owen (knee) pass a fitness test as hoped, he will find it extremely difficult to break up his starting line-up although a battling display from the club's reserves under his watchful gaze on Wednesday will have helped the cause of some on the fringe. Goalkeeper Chris Martin, right-back Adam Yates and striker Sean Rigg all impressed in the 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday and will have done their chances of involvement no harm at all, although Martin is highly unlikely to replace Joe Anyon between the sticks. Yates recovered from a groin injury in time for the clash against Chesterfield but only found himself on the bench with Kris Taylor coming back into defence and Lee Collins going across to right-back, and that is likely to be the case again this time around. Veteran striker Geoff Horsfield (calf) and midfielder Dave Howland (knee) remain in the treatment room, although Horsfield will still be barking his orders from the touchline as assistant manager.
