Port Vale have confirmed the signing of defender Ritchie Sutton on a short-term deal.
The 24-year-old was on the books of semi-professional side Nantwich Town and will join Micky Adams' squad for their pre-season trip to Ireland.
Sutton also admitted he found the gruelling fitness workouts hard going, but he is ready to fight for a place in the first team.
Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "I'm just glad it's all sorted now. It's been a stressful time since the beginning of July and being offered something is brilliant news.
"I feel like it's in my own hands now - it's a massive chance to get back into the Football League and show everyone how I can play.
"I've never experienced anything like it before. It's a shock to the system, but I'm definitely feeling better for it."
