We are making progress - Gannon

Jim Gannon is determined to win over Port Vale`s fans having seen his underwhelming start to life in the Valiants hot-seat continue with a disappointing goalless draw at home to struggling Barnet. Early-season leaders Vale again failed to inspire under new manager Gannon as improving Barnet stretched their unbeaten run to four games. Speaking after the match, Gannon said: "I don't think people realise how much work goes into preparing a team and getting it onto the pitch, but the players will get used to my ways and keep on improving. "I saw some significant improvement and we created enough chances to win the game. The front three worked very hard and we are making progress. "We knew Barnet would come here with a tight shape and they did make it difficult. You have to respect what they were trying to do and they made good use of their extra man in midfield. "We've had some bad luck with injuries and it is almost impossible to replace players of the quality of Marc Richards and Doug Loft at this level, but we will get there."
