McCombe has a contract to keep him at the club next season but a number of his colleagues are out of contract at the end of the season.
And manager Dean Glover has admitted his job could be in jeopardy if shirt sponsors Harlequin Property become Vale's majority shareholder, leaving the squad with an uncertain future.
"It's hard being around the club at the moment because we don't know what is going to happen next year," McCombe told The Sentinel.
"Certain players are out of contract and they don't know if they are going to get a new one. Then there are players like myself who are contracted to the club next season.
"We want to know what's happening - which players are going to be here and who's going to be manager."
